Storm and Impact Damage

Foot Traffic and Aggressive Cleaning

How to Check for Granule Loss Without Damaging the Roof
- Check downspout outlets and gutters from a safe position. Note whether the material appeared gradually or after a storm.
- Look for uneven color. Dark or shiny patches may indicate that the granule layer has thinned.
- Compare roof slopes. One slope may experience different sun, weather, tree, or traffic exposure than another.
- Record other symptoms. Photograph missing shingles, curling edges, ceiling stains, and debris around the property.
- Arrange an inspection. A roofer can examine the surface, flashing, penetrations, attachment, and deck condition together.
Do not scrape a shingle to “test” it or collect a sample without guidance. Removing or bending shingles can create damage and may complicate a warranty claim.
